Women in Science: Cindy St. John
Cindy St. John came to share her experiences working for NASA with our GEMS team. The girls were interested to hear about Mrs. St. John meeting astronauts, receiving awards, and having the opportunity to drive the "Armadillo" from the movie "Armageddon". She encouraged the girls to continue to study and be good students. After giving an overview of the space program, specifically the space shuttle program, the girls were allowed to ask questions. Finally, the girls browsed Ms. St. John's collection of badges, pins, and other memorabilia from her 21 years of working in this field of science.
We are just days away from our departure for Cape Canaveral. This session really fired us up for the trip! Thank you Mrs. St. John. It was great to have an expert who was willing to share with our group.
It was a real pleasure meeting all the GEMS girls and having the opportunity to share my experiences that I had over the 21 years at Kennedy Space Center. Keep up the great work, and enjoy your trip.
